Like waves that crash and reshape sands,
Or floods that drown then rebirth lands,
The waters come, then ebb away,
The form has changed from yesterday.
This artwork is a digital sculpture that will transform in shape. Each time the token is traded, it will deform into a pool of water. After a certain time, it will restore back to a solid form, yet the shape will be different than before.
This piece draws inspiration from observations within a specific circle, reflecting on the journey of the NFT boom. In 2021, crowds surged in with excitement, only to later retreat, leaving behind a haunting stillness. Like waves crashing on the shore, these tides of people brought things in and also took things away. Although the crowd has long since dispersed, their footprints remain—traces etched into the ground that are impossible to erase.
The Like Waves series consists of five digital sculptures, each representing a different scale. Whenever you trade the work via akaSwap, it disassembles into a fluid state before eventually returning to a solid form. The time required for this rebirth can vary widely, ranging from as short as a single day to as long as a full year. Additionally, the energy needed for each transformation affects the price of the NFT, which becomes a part of the artwork itself, encoding its own value into the cycle of dissolution and rebirth.

You can explore and play with all the works on akaSwap. Some of them have already been sold and transformed. You can still trade them to initiate their transformation.
This work is in collaboration with Ukrainian artist Veronika Cherednychenko, who led the sculptural design, while I focused on the conceptual and interactive program.
