Newyellow (Hsing Huang) is a developer / an artist from Taiwan who primarily works on code, software, and generative processes. His work focuses on computational aesthetics, and he enjoys exploring the relationship between the digital world and reality. In his art practice, he often takes existing objects and adds randomness to them while infusing them with digital textures to give them a new life.
He began his career as a web developer. In 2014, he became interested in interactive new media and started exploring tools such as Unity3D and Processing. In 2017, he became fascinated with immersive technologies and began creating a series of AR works. He has won multiple international AR contests organized by Meta.
Since 2021, Newyellow engaged in blockchain and NFT technologies and has been interested in the on-chain community. He has created various works based on blockchain culture and released several NFT pieces on-chain. He has been awarded the top prize in the 2022 LikeWater NFT Art Award and the grand prize of the 2023 ASUS Metaverse Digital Creation Contest.
In addition, Newyellow is a contributor to VolumeDAO - a group comprising him and a few friends from the blockchain community. Together, they organize exhibitions and workshops to promote blockchain technology and generative art in Taiwan. Moreover, since 2022, Hsing has been working as a part-time teacher at NCCU, guiding students to explore the art world on the blockchain.
