Life in Xinglong is a mobile game that is a public art project based on the Xinglong community in Taipei City's Wenshan District. The game incorporates the region's unique characteristics and historical background into puzzle-solving stories to raise awareness and encourage discussions about social housing issues. The game follows the story of a young boy who immigrates to Taiwan from Southeast Asia and strives to complete a local study sheet issued by his school while interacting with the community's residents.
This project is part of the Art Residency - Home in Progress Taipei City Public Art Project, which is led by artist Li-Chen Loh. The project started with fieldwork, during which the team visited the Xinglong area to collect stories from the community residents. The game's storyline was then developed by Hong Zhanhong and myself, while illustrations were created by Qian YuHsin and Huang Xingchun. Finally, I developed the game using Unity3d.
This game is available for free on both Google Play and the App Store. Feel free to download and try it out!
